Framework for Risk-Based Decision Support on Infiltration and Inflow to Wastewater Systems

Infiltration and inflow (I/I) to wastewater systems cause e.g., flooding, pollution, the unnecessary use of limited resources in society. Due climate change an increased need for renewal piping systems, making right decisions on how handle I/I is more important than ever. This paper presents a novel framework risk-based decision support based established theories risk assessment decision-making. The presented general level suggests that uncertainties are included decision-making process, together with criteria representing economic, social, environmental dimensions sustainability. Published models evaluated from showing (1) rarely include or analyses (2) most only project-internal financial aspects, excluding social environmental, as well project-external measures. A further research develop holistic model identified, it concluded application proposed can contribute sustainable provide transparency process.
